The different types of desks in the ROOMZ ecosystem

The following overview shows all types of desks we are supporting, by clicking on a type you will be forwarded to the configuration of each type.

Type of Desk

Fixed Desk

Description

Desk permanently assigned to the same person

Desk which can be temporarily assigned to a person / an external party / a project / a status (cleaning)

A specific desk must be booked in advanced by an employee (one to four weeks in advance)

A desk must be booked in advance by the employee in an area, can be a floor, a building or
a zone.

The employee can choose any available desk. A Desk Sensor changes the status of the desk on
the digital floorplan. An automatic desk release time can be set individually (example one hour)

Guarantee there will never be more people than desks on a specific day.

The employee can be sure having a desk in an area when going to the office.

Colleagues will know that a person will be in the office, but there will be no specific information about their desk location.

Employees cannot book a specific desk in advance - gives more flexibility and fairness to employees.


Excellent solution to manage projects (team working on a specific project). It can easily be done with or without a floorplan.

Very easy to maintain by the workplace manager

Can be used as overflow zone together with bookable desk = better usage of the space (80%
bookable desk / 20% hot desk).

The time before the desk is automatically released can be set individually (example one hour = desk goes orange on floorplan).

Can be used to enforce clean desk policy.

Desk Sensor optional for analytics. Answer the question if the desk should really be used as an
allocated desk or not

Analytics provide information about usage of each area/desk. No information can be linked to
individuals

Often used in combination with Live Viewer (way finding).
